Orlando hate killing

Letter June 18, 2016
Omar Mateen should have accepted the laws of the US where he was born and raised

LAHORE: The brutal cold-blooded murder of 49 Americans in Orlando by a man of Afghan origin should be condemned by every Muslim. The only difference between the killings by Adam Lanza — of 20 children between six and seven years of age at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, and his own mother in December 2012 — and the June 2016 massacre in Orlando by Omar Mateen is that the former was committed by a mentally unstable American Christian and the latter by a possibly mentally unstable American Muslim. No religion, including Islam and Christianity, preaches violence and killings.

The killer, Omar Mateen, should have accepted the laws of the US where he was born and raised. If he was averse to the American culture and way of life, he should have left the country and settled in Afghanistan, from where his father migrated. These acts of terrorism by the mentally unstable should not be linked with any religion, race or ethnicity because these are individual acts.
