The hospitals should carry Mr Edhi’s renowned name and should provide care to the rich and poor equally
HYDERABAD: Recently, PPP Senator Rehman Malik visited Abdul Sattar Edhi and offered to provide help to have him treated abroad. His motive for the visit is quite transparent; it is simply based on a photo opportunity to give a false impression. The PPP’s game is obvious to us.
If the PPP is really sincere and concerned about Mr Edhi continuing to provide his services to the country, then it should build internationally recognised hospitals in every province of the country. The hospitals should carry Mr Edhi’s renowned name and should provide care to the rich and poor equally. There should be no need to go to London or any other foreign destination for treatment, just as our prime minister currently received. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich. If we do not move in the right direction, our already torn social fabric will quickly fall apart.
