Certain mafias could not bear the beautification of the area and what we saw was heavy deforestation
TURBAT: The Margalla Hills National Park was established on April 27, 1980 by the federal government in order to save the natural beauty surrounding the capital of Pakistan. With the beauty of trees and the serenity of the abundant greenery and steep slopes, Margalla Hills was an illustration of the perfect natural landscape in the country. Unfortunately, however, certain mafias could not bear the beautification of the area and what we saw was heavy deforestation. Trees are routinely chopped down for wood and explosions are carried out in the hills in order to excavate stones, destroying the environment. These explosions are causing a lot of distress to those who are settled in the area as their houses have become vulnerable and the pollution caused is unbearable.
This issue has been highlighted by the media and was also discussed in the Supreme Court but the government seems to have turned a blind eye towards it and refuses to take any notice of the activity of those who are involved in destroying the beauty of the Margalla Hills.
