Massive hikes in school fees continue to torment us by snowballing every year
KARACHI: We are all aware of the massive hikes in school fees that continue to torment us by snowballing every year. Parents are facing challenging times paying these money-making organisations that don’t realise how imperative it is for every child to receive an education. How are people expected to provide their kids with a good quality education when they just can’t afford it?
My heart goes out to all those unprivileged teenagers working menial jobs in small shops or driving rickshaws because they couldn’t continue their studies and live their dreams. There are many government-run schools in Pakistan, but most of them don’t have competent teachers, hence affecting the quality of their education. Also, teachers don’t get paid enough and that explains their lack of motivation to educate their students. Maybe, all we can depend on now is to wait for some good samaritans to initiate a charity for all Pakistani children who are deprived of this basic right — that way, no child would be left behind.
