We blame others for the errors made by the leaders of Muslim countries themselves who are often ruthless dictators
NIDDERAU, GERMANY: This letter is apropos an editorial in this newspaper published on May 30, “Walls of Intolerance.” The editorial makes sense but I do not agree that Western countries that now find themselves in the middle of the refugee and asylum crisis are victims of their own actions. It has become fashionable to blame others for the errors made by the leaders of Muslim countries themselves who are often ruthless dictators. Colonialism was evil but many non-Muslim countries also suffered due to it. How come mostly Muslim countries are in a mess today and most of the people seeking refuge in Europe are Muslims?
No country can accept refugees in unlimited numbers. Germany has begun teaching classes to integrate immigrants, which is nothing more than helping them learn the German language to enable them to find jobs. That is a positive step. On top of that, they teach them about the rights of women and to accept members of all faiths as equal human beings, something many Muslim countries do not practice. What these courses do not do is encourage these hapless people to make friends with the local population to learn to live and let live. That should be added. Even the Dalai Lama recently stated that immigration is good but has to be limited.
