Education authorities should be commended for their efforts and at the same time must continue working for improvement
KARACHI/ DADU: In today’s world, the benchmark for excellence is education. Without education, there is no way to keep pace with the world. If a country has a poor academic infrastructure, then its chances for survival in the modern competitive world are slim. It is, therefore, very important that education standards in our country receive critical attention. Education in Sindh has gone through tumultuous periods and major transformations which have been several decades in the making. After the 18th Amendment, there have been some improvements in the education system in the province when it comes to certain aspects.
The Reform Support Unit (RSU), established in 2006, has proven to be a turning point in this regard. The creation of the RSU generated enormous interest and attention, and considerably facilitated improvement of education in schools. In the last four years, there has been an increase in the literacy rate in Sindh. Biometric verification of teacher presence in schools has resulted in greater punctuality and attendance. Moreover, a bigger budget has been allotted and spent on these schools. The stipend for female students between grades six and ten, given by the Sindh government, has led to an increased enrollment of girls in government schools. The education authorities should be commended for the effort they have made and at the same time must continue working for improvement in areas which still require it.
