Banning the film 'Maalik' in the name of patriotism does not make one more patriotic or safe from criticism
KARACHI: This refers to your editorial, “Censorship on a role” (May 3). The two recently banned documentaries do not violate any censorship rules. They only present a real image of our dystopic world. The film Maalik opened all the loose ends of our corrupt political system; our government felt threatened by the movie’s characters — I wonder why?
These films are a reflection of the country’s current situation. The government should comprehend that banning these films in the name of patriotism does not make one more patriotic or safe from criticism; instead, it makes one’s acts and deeds even more suspicious.
