Disciplinary issues in cricket

Letter May 09, 2016
The need of the hour is to steadily overcome the disciplinary issues constantly haunting Pakistan cricket

LAHORE: Pakistan cricket is turning into a comedy of errors. The management and players were apparently not satisfied with their abysmal performances in world tournaments, so they decided to take things even further. Affairs at the recently held Pakistan Cup did not throw any positive light on Pakistan cricket.

Senior batsman Younus Khan was slapped with a show-cause notice in the Pakistan Cup after he was embroiled in a row with an umpire and did not attend a disciplinary meeting with the referee and later abandoned his team. The decision was then reversed after Younus Khan apologised for his behaviour but without apparently serving any punishment for his indiscipline. Whatever the reasons may be, the need is to steadily overcome these disciplinary issues that are constantly haunting Pakistan cricket.
