Despite forecasts of an extremely hot summer, there are still no proper arrangements in place to beat the heat
KARACHI: We’ve all heard that another extremely hot summer will be witnessed this year but there are still no proper arrangements in place to beat the heat. Learning a lesson from the deaths caused by the heatwave in Karachi last year, it was the government’s responsibility to take immediate precautions.
Planting more trees is the sustainable way to beat the ‘heat island effect’. Greenery is cooling to the eye, soothing to the senses and works efficiently in dropping temperatures, all while providing nutritiously hydrating vegetables and fruits. The government must take necessary steps to save precious lives.
