The government should help develop programmes to encourage and educate poor farmers on modern farming techniques
TURBAT: Pakistan exports a large quantity of agricultural produce/products such as rice, cotton and fruits. Unfortunately, the Pakistani government pays little attention to the agriculture sector. The fact is that farmers in Pakistan desperately need the support of the government. Even though there are international organisations that are working to improve agricultural standards among poorer countries, such as the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, we still do not have any support from our own government, which demonstrates our own weakness.
Furthermore, there is no set price for a farmer’s hard work. I request the government to help develop programmes to encourage and educate poor farmers on modern farming techniques — that could prove to be favourable for our fiscal position as well.
