Pakistan is not known for Veena Malik’s performance on an Indian reality show.
KARACHI: This is with reference to Hamna Zubair’s article of January 25 titled “Baiting Veena Malik”. I am referring to the TV show on which the actress was invited and made to speak with a maulvi. The latter kept insisting that he had never seen Veena Malik on “Bigg Boss”, which means he made accusations based on what he knew only by way of second-hand information — and all the while he praised her looks! The host made matters worse by asking loaded and unnecessary questions.
Pakistan is not known for Veena Malik’s performance on an Indian reality show. It’s known for corrupt politicians, religious extremism and suicide blasts. Veena Malik may have crossed a line, but the host should have stepped in and controlled the situation. Someone should show the maulvi our local films and ask him what he thinks about their content.
Being a woman, I personally don’t agree with some of the things Ms Malik did while she was in India but the way she was trashed on television was wrong.
As for the cleric who came on the show, thanks to him and those of his ilk, Islam is now known for all things opposite to what it really represents.
