More than three months have elapsed but Nadra has not yet delivered my elderly mother's identity card
RAWALPINDI: I want to draw the attention of the Minister of Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, to problems being faced by citizens at NADRA offices. Upon my plea in a number of newspapers in January, he has taken prompt action against Nadra. A special team from Nadra visited my home to complete the documents necessary to obtain an identity card for my 80-year-old mother. The team even collected fingerprints and photographs.
However, now, more than three months have elapsed but Nadra has not yet delivered her new card. Perhaps, it will deliver her CNIC after her death because their processes and systems still seem to be in poor shape. This public service office is not respecting senior citizens.
I would like to make suggestions to improve the processes at all Nadra offices in Pakistan. First of all, post a new chairman having vast experience of running departments and administrations in the most efficient of ways so that the working system of Nadra is improved. All Nadra offices should function in three shifts providing round-the-clock service for quick rectification of problems relating to the issuance of CNICs. In order to eliminate long queues at Nadra counters, token numbers should be issued to every person and seating arrangements in waiting areas should be made at all offices. Similarly, Nadra should mention on receipts the approximate delivery date of identity cards for the convenience of the applicants for CNICs. I hope the interior minister will continue working to improve the functioning of NADRA offices.
