By taking on positive, respectable roles, our actors can represent our country better and endorse our culture
LAHORE: I am astounded to see that our Pakistani television celebrities have lost their sense of proportion. I have witnessed some movie and song content that our Pakistani celebrities, it seems, have opted for as a means of entertainment, without paying attention to what the actual content is. Our celebrities are so desperate to make their appearance on the big screen that they are the least bothered about the subject matter, such as script, roles and dialogues. They tend to opt for the kinds of scripts that do not relate to their cultural or moral backgrounds. I feel ashamed that instead of reviving our cinema, our celebrities are working in other entertainment industries.
Our Pakistani celebrities must focus on what they are doing and how they are doing it. They must know that if they are going to perform a role, they should have an adequate amount of information on it. They must have an in-depth knowledge of the script or the characters they are going to play.
When I came across such content, the only thing that struck me is that our people are so eager to play characters and earn fast cash that they are the least bothered about the qualities and values of the characters. They only focus on being rich and famous. However, by doing this, they are portraying our country in a negative light. If our celebrities make an exclusive appearance on any big or silver screen, they are indirectly propagating negative thoughts about Pakistan and promoting the wrong side of our culture.
By taking on positive, respectable roles, they will be able to represent our country better and will, in turn, endorse our culture.
