Has our government taken any preventative actions and measures to avert the loss of precious lives
KARACHI: Last year, many people died due to heatstroke in Karachi. The death rate reached at least 1,200 people and the figure was later updated. The question for this summer remains: has our government taken any preventative actions and measures to avert the loss of precious lives in 2016, especially in the month of Ramazan when many will be fasting and dehydrated? Power breakdowns and a lack of water supply are the most important issues that should be resolved on a first-priority basis. The city government should start a campaign to plant trees to create a natural environment for reducing the effects of heat. This is a call to action for the Sindh government to immediately implement measures to protect citizens from heatstroke and save precious lives.
