President Obama named a dedicated volunteer, Judge Merrick Garland, to serve as the newest US Supreme Court judge
ISLAMABAD: President Barack Obama recently named a dedicated volunteer, Judge Merrick Garland, to serve as the newest US Supreme Court judge. It is reported that Judge Garland volunteers as a tutor in an elementary school in Washington, DC, so as to impact the lives of children in need. And what about our judges, especially the retired ones? Many of them remain in the race to receive some sort of contractual re-employment and then extension after extension, so as to extract the maximum number of financial benefits. They never bother to volunteer their time to primary schools, high schools or even law colleges and varsities. Exceptions may exist, but not many in a country with a population of more than 200 million people. Indeed, great nations make great decisions and they churn out great presidents who nominate selfless and saintly souls to serve their nations.
