The establishment of divisional urban search and rescue teams in Punjab is a welcome step
LAHORE: To accomplish great things, we must not only act but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. The establishment of divisional urban search and rescue teams by Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on historical Pakistan Day was ample proof that the incumbent government is serious not only about providing timely emergency response and care without discrimination but also about mitigating the suffering of people who face such untoward situations. Since it is the responsibility of the government to establish socially responsible community emergency response systems, the establishment of divisional urban search and rescue teams is a welcome step. Such initiatives shine light on the government’s firm resolve to play an effective role in order to develop safer communities in Pakistan.
