Being deprived of electricity, people of Sindh, Balochistan have every hour as Earth Hour and every day as Earth Day
ISLAMABAD: People around the globe show their unflinching commitment to protecting our planet by turning off the lights in their homes for World Wide Fund for Nature’s ‘Earth Hour’ on March 19, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, local time. The Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building, and the Sydney Opera House remain dark for this occasion to show Mother Earth the due care and respect she deserves.
However, I often think about the ill-fated people of Sindh and Balochistan, whose every hour is Earth Hour and every day is Earth Day because they are either kept deprived of electricity or, when they are blessed with this ‘modern’ innovation of humankind, they are then supplied with one hour of electricity after four hours of power cut. Such is the blissfulness in their corner of Mother Earth.
