KARACHI: The Pakistan women’s cricket team won the toss and chose to field against India in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Twenty20 at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. The green shirts were enthusiastic from the get-go about winning the game for Pakistani cricket fans. This was in great contrast to the way the men in green shirts played in India on the same day. I proudly want to say that these girls worked hard and made Pakistan proud. This outcome strongly supports the idea that women can do anything men can — and they proved it through the match outcome. This is an especially pertinent point to note for Pakistanis where the culture of patriarchy and chauvinism prevails.
