Pakistan has become the worst example of exploitation under parliamentary democracy
KARACHI: I read Taj Haider’s letter titled “A crisis at play” (March 16). Not knowing him personally, but knowing the PPP since its birth, I was not surprised with the contents of his letter protesting the use of derogatory words against the Sindh chief minister by Kamal Siddiqi. Taj Haider tried to defend the PPP’s failures by writing that, “Thar and at least eight other districts in Sindh have been suffering from chronic malnutrition and poverty for a very long period. I have proposed to the honourable health minister to brief the media once again about the steps that have already been taken and the ones that have been planned for the long term. I do hope these will find some space in your esteemed newspaper.”
Now, for those who know that the PPP has ruled in Sindh for over 18 years out of the last 28 years since May 1972, the above statement is a crude joke on the people of these eight districts of Sindh, especially Thar district, where there is high infant mortality due to basic healthcare needs not being met to date.
Please go on a war footing to deliver the basic needs and essentials of life and healthcare first in your province, without claiming laurels about the Sindh card. Pakistan has become the worst example of exploitation under parliamentary democracy. Please act before the brewing storm in our cup of tea emerges.
