Time for infrastructural development

Letter March 17, 2016
Metro Bus System and Orange Line Metro Train project will provide a state-of-the-art means of transportation

LAHORE: Infrastructural development is a vital component that paves the way for a country’s economic and social growth. It enhances the productivity of a country at major levels. Keeping this in mind, the Government of Punjab responded swiftly and initiated projects, like the Metro Bus System, in densely populated cities of Lahore and Rawalpindi, to provide a state-of-the-art means of transportation to local residents. In addition, the ongoing Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project, which will facilitate over half a million commuters daily, is ample proof that shows the government’s firm resolve to enhance the infrastructure of the provincial metropolis. Likewise, the news about the proposed construction of the Shahdara Expressway project is also a welcome step to ease traffic flow as it will facilitate more than 30,000 vehicles on a daily basis.

The government of Punjab acknowledges the needs of its people and is leaving no stone unturned to uplift the social and economic lives of its people. It is hoped that such initiatives will continue in the future as well and contribute in the socio-economic development of Pakistan in general and Punjab in particular.
