Divorce ratio being greater in the West somehow proves that these rights have failed to ensure happy married lives
ISLAMABAD: The first case under the new Women’s Rights Act was recorded in Lahore on March 3. Women will now enjoy the rights to live peacefully in their homes with zero tolerance for any violence.
As we know, women residing in the West already possess these rights and the Western society, generally, has been encouraging the promotion of the rights of women. However, the divorce ratio is comparatively greater in the West, which somehow proves that these rights have failed to ensure happy married lives.
Some people in Pakistan assume that this Act will promote the divorce ratio in our country and claim that it is not in accordance with Sharia. For now, we can deduce two consequences of this Act. The first is that some women will misuse their rights, which may lead to a mounting divorce ratio and the second, positive aspect, is that domestic peace is ensured and that matters will be solved on a negotiation basis. Peaceful home environments will also create comfortable environments for children.
