Adventures on a train

Letter February 26, 2016
Traveling from Super Deluxe Luxury Coach 'non-stop' train was an experience far from satisfactory

RAWALPINDI: I travelled by Super Deluxe Luxury Coach on February 21 on the 107-UP Islamabad Express. Railway Minister Saad Rafique professes to take the Pakistan Railways to a high standard. However, for this “non-stop” train, my experience was far from satisfactory.

This “non-stop” train stopped at least eight times at obscure places. There was no television. The toilet was falling apart with panels hanging loose, no washing essentials, no soap and no towels. The honourable minister should pay a surprise visit once in a while on important trains and see for himself, how their conditions and services are maintained, or lack thereof.
