UNIVERSITY OF KARACHI: A brave and courageous reporter was gunned down in a targeted attack on January 13. He is the first to die in the line of duty in Pakistan in 2011. His untimely death makes a student of mass media like me wonder whether this is the reward a journalist gets for trying to uncover the forces behind extremism, fundamentalism and terrorism in this country.
