Is it not time those attacking Husain Haqqani constantly began to answer his arguments?
LAHORE: This refers to Naila Ahmad Yusufzai’s letter “What is Husain Haqqani up to?” in your paper on January 31. It is interesting that after more than 30 years in public life and authoring several world-renowned books, Husain Haqqani’s detractors can only cite his change of opinions over the years to attack him. When the Quaid-e-Azam was confronted by some smart aleck about how he had been in the Congress party and supported Hindu-Muslim unity before leading the Muslim League in demanding an independent Pakistan, he said, “I was once in primary school too.”
Mr Haqqani himself has often said, “Goals in football are scored by kicking the ball, not the player.” Is it not time the hidden hands that attacked Husain Haqqani constantly began to answer his arguments about military dominance, dependence on aid and lack of resolve in fighting the jihadi menace rather than rehash personal attacks against him and his alleged motives?
