Closing the Bacha Khan University does not seem a good idea because the academic year of students will be hindered
KARACHI: Vice-Chancellor of Bacha Khan University Professor Fazlur Rahim Marwat announced the closure of the university after the deadly attack for an indefinite period for damage repair and improvement of security. This does not seem to be a good idea because the academic year of students will obviously be hindered because of this.
While there is no doubt that repair work must be done and security has to be improved, a break in the students’ course of study for an ‘indefinite time’ will only discourage students from returning to classes, or, even result in their losing out on a full semester’s worth of study. Disrupting education was one of the main objectives of the terrorists — don’t let them win.
