PIA management shocking claimed that the strike has in no way affected the operations or revenue of the airline
KARACHI: PIA employees have gone on a countrywide strike to protest against privatisation. It was shocking to read in your paper that the PIA management in its statement claimed that the strike in no way affected the operations or revenue of PIA. This shows that the airline’s management has no understanding of the aviation business at all. In aviation, the repercussion of a strike is never immediate. There is always a massive delayed impact as people who are planning to travel in the near future immediately opt for other available carriers as they don’t want to take a chance with their travel plans.
The demands of the employees may be fully justified but they must also understand that the damage they are causing will be irreparable and they must enter into talks with the government.
