My question to Mr Iqbal is, can a country take off with its hands tied behind its back
LAHORE: This is with reference to the question Ahsan Iqbal asked in his January 20 article, “Is Pakistan ready for a take-off?” My question to Mr Iqbal is, can a country take off with its hands tied behind its back — a country that has not been allowed to tap its readily available power and water resources, which could have revived industry and agriculture?
Our industry needs mega quantities of power and our agriculture needs mega quantities of water — quantities which only a mega dam can provide. The only dam that can meet these requirements in a reasonable period of time is the Kalabagh Dam, but will the PPP and the ANP allow us to build it? And to think, Pakistan could have taken off more than 30 years ago!
