All this serves as a harsh reminder that we are not safe in our own country.
LAHORE: This is in response to the story “Justice Iqbal’s parents murder: Malik forms joint investigation team” (January 12). I live close to the house of Justice Iqbal’s parents, and at 10 pm when I was putting my children to sleep, the silence of the night was broken by the sound of police sirens, terrifying us. I immediately turned on the television and found out that the justice’s parents had been murdered in an armed robbery attempt.
All this serves as a harsh reminder that we are not safe in our own country. My children ask me why people murder each other even though we are Muslims and all Muslims are brothers. I have no answer to these questions and I know no one else does either.
Is it for this that we have elected our politicians? What is the future of our country? News of bloodshed, target killing and lack of resources are always on the news. The murder of a former DIG and the parents of a Supreme Court judge is no small matter. There is a dire need to strengthen the law and order situation in the country and rid it of corruption.
