Bilawal’s point is valid to the extent that education and health sectors have not been accorded due priority by rulers
ISLAMABAD: Of late, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has been taking on the government for ‘wasting’ resources on colourful buses and roads at the cost of public welfare. His accusations could have received serious attention if the ruling party in Sindh had set some worthwhile examples of welfare practices that were worthy of emulation by the others. Without dwelling on the cost-benefit ratio of the metro buses, it can be safely argued that these projects have provided opportunity to the common man to travel at cheaper rates in lesser time.
The infrastructure of roads and bridges is essential for better trade and business activities and ultimately, having these facilities benefits the whole of society, including the poor. It helps not only in building a favourable image of a country, it also aids in boosting its tourism and travel industry. Bilawal’s point is valid to the extent that the education and health sectors have not been accorded due priority by the ruling party. However, the PPP cannot claim any valid examples set by its party in the areas under its control, either.
