Ode to commissioner of Karachi

Letter January 12, 2016
It was a setback for the dwellers of Hyderabad to learn about the transfer of former commissioner to Karachi

ISLAMABAD: It was a tremendous setback for the dwellers of Hyderabad to learn about the sudden transfer of the former commissioner of Hyderabad Syed Asif Hyder Shah to Karachi. It is a great challenge to embrace a difficult assignment because he is posted as an administrator of Pakistan’s largest city. His new job is believed to be challenging. However, given his experience in Hyderabad, it is safe to say that he will be up to the task. Hyderabad witnessed rapid development and improvements within a short span of time during his tenure, so he is the right man for the job. His efforts resulted in Hyderabad’s roads and infrastructure being completely transformed. Mr Shah’s work was much appreciated because he brought Hyderabad on the avenue of progress and prosperity. Now that he is gone, people of the city worry about the ongoing mega projects. We wonder if those projects will be continued without Mr Shah at the helm.

I convey my best wishes to the commissioner of Karachi for his new posting and I am confident that he will lead an excellent track record there as well. I understand that a tough city like Karachi needs committed and vibrant bureaucrats like him. At the same time, I hope the current Hyderabad administration will continue working with the policies of the former commissioner in order to facilitate and serve the citizens.
