Little seems to have been done to make Urdu the official language of Pakistan under the verdict of the Supreme Court
KARACHI: Former chief justice of Pakistan Jawwad S Khawaja had instructed on September 8, 2015 that work should be done to ensure that Urdu is made the official language of Pakistan. Recently, the Higher Education Commission and the ministry of education instructed public and private sector universities to use Urdu as the primary official language and forthwith translate their websites into Urdu, which are presently, still in the English language. Little seems to have been done until now to implement the directive of the Supreme Court. We continue to choose to obliterate our language just because of our inferiority complex of the need to appear more Westernised. We need to be proud of our cultural heritage and language as do all other successful countries in the world.
