Wrangling between Sindh & centre

Letter January 04, 2016
If one has nothing to hide or fear, be honest, have faith and let the Rangers probe the cases

RAWALPINDI: The wrangling on the Rangers’ powers in Sindh between the province and the centre has provided the electronic media with the opportunity to indulge in a rat race for ratings, constantly adding unneeded hype created through the antics of anchors and talk show panelists from all political parties, who seek to dispense their pearls of wisdom while indulging in all kinds of hair-splitting. If one comes to think of it, why is anyone afraid of the Rangers? Why would some prefer it if the NAB, police and the FIA probed their corruption cases?

There is saying in Persian, “Aan ra keh hisabesh pak ast — az muhasabah cheh baak ast” (If anyone’s accounts are clean — he fears not any audit). What do people have to hide from the Rangers that they are more willing to disclose to the other civil agencies? Or is it that the alleged corrupt believe that they will be able to have their way with the other agencies but not with the Rangers? I hope this is not the case, for, if such is the assumption, then it would tarnish the credibility of the NAB, police and the FIA in the eyes of the general public. If one has nothing to hide or fear, be honest, have faith and let the Rangers probe the cases.
