It is assuring to know that the government is now thinking of finding a strategic partner for PIA
KARACHI: It is assuring to know that instead of going blindly in the direction of privatisation, the government is now thinking of finding a strategic partner for PIA. This will go to serve PIA’s interests in a much more fruitful manner and also create an atmosphere in which the employees would get a chance to work with diligence and sincerity, with none of them being laid off.
The only difference would be that now they would be working for a profit-oriented company and it is obvious that the said company will not tolerate any slackness on their part. This means that those among the PIA staff who feel that they can still continue with their sloppy ways would either have to become fully efficient workers or leave the airline. In my opinion, this is a very good development and the government must pursue it very earnestly.
