
The exclusion of Syria, Iraq and Iran from the Muslim countries alliance displays a sectarian approach
ISLAMABAD: Today, the Muslim world faces the monster of sectarianism, which is no longer simply an internal matter pertaining to Muslims states. The problem has been acknowledged internationally in the forming of a grand alliance led by Saudi Arabia.
If the coalition is genuinely a coalition of Muslim states against terrorism, then the exclusion of Syria, Iraq and Iran creates a big question mark. This displays a sectarian approach. How can the objective of eliminating terrorism be accomplished if all stakeholders and affected states are not the part of the antiterrorism alliance?
