As a start, the Justice Munir Report should be circulated widely to expose our so-called ‘religious scholars’. The only solution is the separation of state and religion as envisioned by the founder of the nation. Furthermore, our textbooks need to be revised and all hate material should be expunged from them. The most alarming development following the governor’s assassination is the support that many so-called ‘educated’ people are lending to the murderer. To undo the damage done by General Zia to Pakistan will require a strong political will and the PPP and ANP are the parties which can do it.
