These designs have given birth to the menace of terrorism across the world
ISLAMABAD: The time has come for the US and its European allies to revisit their policies vis-a-vis global hegemony. History bears testimony to the fact that the US in particular has been responsible for dragging its allies into wars waged against nations on totally unconvincing grounds. The hegemonic design of the West is one of the several reasons, a very strong one for that matter, which has given birth to the menace of terrorism across the world. One glaring example is the Iraq war. The basis on which the war was waged against Iraq by the US and its Western allies was not strong enough to justify military action of inestimable magnitude. Tony Blair’s recent apology is sufficient enough to indicate that the invasion of Iraq was not justified.
In view of this, should one expect that good sense will eventually dawn upon the mighty nations of the world? Terrorism, in all its forms, should be condemned in the strongest terms possible by the civilised world. But at the same time, the cause(s) of terrorism should also be found and sincerely addressed. We join ranks with the civilised world in condemning, in the strongest terms, the brutalities committed by the perpetrators of the Paris terror attacks on innocent people. While doing so, we urge the world community to come forward and strengthen our hands in our long-drawn war against terror.
