They like to move it, move it – yet more insolence at Kuch Khaas

The Insolent Nights returned to Kuch Khaas, bigger and better this time with the Madagascar-inspired theme on June 12. 'Movement' was the order of the day and it came full circle with performances punctuated by classical dance, musical recitals, tongue-in-cheek pieces and more insolence brought to the table.

Shayan Afzal Khan, patron of Kuch Khaas, encouraged the audience to “get rid of (their) inhibitions and contribute to the cause”. She stressed that the art scene would go on with support from the people who appreciate it and who would like to see more of it. The donations go not to Kuch Khaas, but to those who bring the place alive with their performing craft - whatever it may be.

“It is pertinent to add that Insolent Nights is not just about performing but also self-expression,” Natasha Humera Ejaz added. Natasha was a constant entertainer, from opening with soulful music to giving out introductions to generally assisting through out the programme. Touted “The Tiny Two” Tülin Khalid-Azim and Natasha are behind the Insolent Nights, joining forces with some brilliant performers.

Osman Khalid Butt who did multiple rounds of powerful renditions said,

“This is the maximum that I've performed in a single go.”

In the wrap-up, prominent names from the Islamabad theatre scene came forward and 'moved it' with vigour , including Uzair Khan, Fauziah Mahmood , Uzair Jaswal and Shahana Khan.

The Khaas people don't believe in being “fashionably” late; guests started trickling in and before too long it was full house. The turnover was incentive enough to respect punctuality.

Beside quality discourse, Khaas offers ambience and elaborate Hi-Tea- all on the house. Highly recommended for opening those creative chakras.
