Same old cast, same old war, same old producers – will Yalghaar be any different from Waar?
The film deals with the military operation conducted by the Pakistan Army in the Peochar valley of the Swat district.
Forget sawaiyan and prepare yourself to feast on three sumptuous cinematic delights this Eid instead. We have got the Salman Khan starrer Tubelight vying for our attention against two local offerings. While Yasir Nawaz’s Mehrunnisa V Lub You might sound like a safe bet, owing to its over the top Bollywood vibe, it is Hassan Waqar Rana’s Yalghaar which has gotten yours truly all psyched.
Seasoned stalwarts like Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Ayub Khoso and Adnan Siddiqui are all part of the incredible roster along with Bilal Ashraf, Umair Jaswal, Gohar Rasheed, Ayesha Omar and Sana Bucha amongst many others. The huge ensemble cast reads like a dissertation on the who’s who of the Pakistani entertainment industry.
Rana, or Doc as he is affectionately known throughout the industry, has been working on the war saga, previously titled Delta Echo Foxtrot, for more than three years now. So will Yalghaar prove to be worth the time it spent stuck in development limbo? Doc’s past record would make a strong case to prove the aforementioned statement true, lest we have forgotten that Rana was the producer/writer of Waar, the second highest-grossing Pakistani film after Jawani Phir Nahi Ani.
Similar to Waar, Rana’s latest venture Yalghaar is also looking to tap into the patriotic sentiments of its viewers by basing the movie around the lives of soldiers. Specifically, the film deals with the military operation conducted by the Pakistan Army in the Peochar valley of the Swat district.
As for the cast, Shaan is supposed to be playing the protagonist-in-chief and surprisingly, the main baddie is played by television’s chocolate hero Saeed.
According to Rana, the reason why he used a beloved television hero as an antagonist was because he wished to demonstrate that evil is not something that is across a geographical border but rather, it dwells inside all of us. So this supposed face-off between two of the Pakistan entertainment industry’s biggest superstars – Shaan and Saeed – is one of the major highlights of Yalghaar.
