Gareth Bale's name on the Real Madrid jersey is good news for fans everywhere

With Gareth Bale's addition to the Real Madrid’s colossal team, football fans look forward to an action packed season.

With the Bale transfer saga finally coming to an end, there is good news for all the Real Madrid fans out there, and if you’re a Tottenham Hotspur fan then bad news awaits you. Real Madrid has successfully signed the Tottenham player Gareth Bale for a record breaking fee of US$131.86 million (£86.9 million), completely overshadowing the previous record of US$126.84 million (£80 million) as fee for Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009.

Never had I thought that Tottenham would let go of their star studded winger who had repeatedly given his best to the club on numerous occasions. But then again it was only Gareth’s hopes and dream which led him to the decision to have his name imprinted on the Real jersey, even after having the English giants Manchester United looming over this transfer chronicle.

Current Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas was the first to announce that Bale, 24, was departing. He spoke to reporters after his team had been defeated by arch-rivals Arsenal in the north-London derby, which was probably the nail in the coffin. Also, Bale has not played in any of Tottenham’s five opening Premier League or Europa League matches this season due to what was described as an 'ankle injury'.

“He is an absolutely wonderful player. He is going to join Real Madrid and he has left us with great memories from last season which every Tottenham fan cherishes. He has moved on and we have moved on as well,” Villas-Boas said.

“We have to move forwards. Tottenham has made some great investments in the money that will come from Gareth Bale, which is wonderful.”

Tottenham has been quick to re-invest the money, breaking their own transfer record three times in this transfer window after acquiring Paulinho from Corinthians for $26.3 million followed up by Roberto Soldado from Valencia for $40.34 million and then Erik Lamela from AS Roma for $46.55 million on Friday. This shows that Tottenham has not wasted any time to take necessary precautions and will aim to enlarge their buyout with the fee from this monumental transfer and has already scouted out more potential targets.

Manager Villas Boas has shown his disapproval of the transfer earlier as he is reported to have had Gareth almost fined by the big heads of the Tottenham Hotspur Board of directors for not showing up for regular practice. Tottenham will have missed out on keeping a star but at the Bernabéu Bale will, in my opinion, be a natural fit. His pace, playing and dribbling style match those of current Madrid wingers Ronaldo and Di Maria. Now Lionel Messi’s left foot won’t be the only coveted left foot in Spain!

After the addition of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid’s colossal forward, the La Liga will now have a different kind of flair to it. The power struggle between the Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona’s renowned rivalry will now divide into two portions. Ronaldo versus Messi and with the addition of two new faces; Bale versus Neymar.

This is going to be one action packed season for football fans!
