Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan said on Thursday the central contract of veteran Saeed Ajmal and right-hand batsman Umar Akmal has been suspended with immediate effect, Express News reported.

“I appointed Saqlain Mushtaq to help Saeed Ajmal after he was reported for illegal action last year, but I am disappointed with the spinner’s statements in recent days,” Shahryar said.

Earlier, Ajmal claimed that the PCB left him and no board officials kept any contact with him when he was reported for illegal action.

The PCB chairman also stated that the contract of middle-order batsmen Umar Akmal was also suspended after he was allegedly involved in an incident involving mistreatment of women while playing a first-class game in Hyderabad last week.

Earlier today, the selection committee announced the talented but inconsistent batsman Akmal was dropped out of the squad for the three-match Twenty20 series against England on disciplinary grounds.
