LAHORE: In Union Council 208, a tough competition is expected between Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The union council comprises Tipu Block, Babar Block, Sher Shah Block, Usman Block, Chughtai Park, Jivan Hana and Chakkian. It has 17,000 registered voters.

PTI’s Chaudhry Muhammad Ameen and Amjad Ali Chaudhry are candidates for chairman and vice chairman. PML-N’s Khurram Nazeer is in the run for chairman and Chaudhry Mauladad for vice chairman.

Ameen was elected naib nazim in 2005. His rival, Nazeer, is contesting for the first time.

Ameen claims that PML-N activists are threatening PTI supporters. “We are going to file a complaint with police,” he says.

Nazeer says that the PML-N supporters have not threatened anyone.

“PTI candidates are levelling allegations without any evidence,” he says.
