Security in Muharram

The holy month of Muharram poses a tough challenge for the police forces and security agencies of various cities

TURBAT: The holy month of Muharram poses a tough challenge for the police forces and security agencies of various cities, with the provincial and federal governments striving hard to maintain peace.

Security agencies in every nook and corner of the country need to be alert and must not let anti-peace elements disturb the mourning processions on Ashura, especially in major cities like Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Quetta, which need special security measures these days.

More importantly, the leaderships of all sects should also bear responsibility for maintaining calm and organise events and processions in a well-organised manner.
