Seizure of Adnan Sami’s property

Letter December 31, 2010
Surely Mr Sami must have known he is not an Indian citizen and he cannot buy an immovable asset anywhere in India.

NEW DELHI: This is with reference to your report of December 27 titled “India seizes Adnan Sami’s property”. It seems that this action by the Indian authorities has angered many Pakistanis. My question is that surely Mr Sami must have known that he is not an Indian citizen and hence, under Indian law, he cannot buy an immovable asset anywhere in India. Why did he invest his hard-earned money in this property? What compelled him to do this knowing — I assume he must have known of the law — that he could not have brought property. Why are people in Pakistan failing to understand that?
