NAB hands over recovered amount to Sindh govt, others

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) handed over cheques to the Sindh government, pertaining to the amount that had been recovered from various culprits through voluntary plea bargain. The total amount recovered in the 44 cases stood at Rs41,796,246, which was handed over to the Sindh government and other institutions. 


The cheques were distributed by the bureau's deputy chairperson, Rear Admiral (retd) Saeed Ahmed Sargana at the ceremony which was attended by DG Lt Col (retd) Sirajul Naeem, NAB Karachi DG, Muhammad Akbar Tarar and other NAB officials.

In one of the cases, the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan had forwarded a complaint to the NAB chairperson regarding the wilful loan default against directors and guarantors of Khawaja Food Pvt Ltd.

One of the directors of the company, Zahid Waheed, Khawaja was arrested. Later, he entered into a plea bargain and paid his liability amounting to Rs38,230,783.

In another case, on a complaint filed by the OGDCL regarding pilferage of diesel at OGDCL's Tando Alam field, an inquiry was conducted by NAB Karachi against contractors and trolley owners. During the trial, four of the accused were arrested and they entered into a plea bargain and returned their liabilities from which an amount of Rs682,007 was recovered.
