KARACHI:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement has said that their Rabita Committee member Kamal Mallick was released by the Rangers on Thursday evening. The party earlier claimed that Mallick was arrested by the Rangers during a pre-dawn raid at his house on Thursday, and demanded the government take immediate notice of his arrest and ensure his release.

“They scaled the walls (of Mallick’s house) and arrested him. No reason has so far been given for his arrest,” said the party. The operation carried on for two hours during which the Rangers arrested Mallick and also took away his academic records and certificates.

MQM’s senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar said Mallick was the fourth Rabita Committee member to be arrested during the ongoing operation in the city. “He is innocent. He was arrested because he supports the MQM chief and rejects the minus-Altaf formula.”
