PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has scheduled elections for nazims representing local governments at the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) for  Friday (today). The elections will be held at District Council Hall, Peshawar where Local Government and Rural Development Secretary Syed Jamaluddin Shah will serve as the returning officer (RO) while Senior Minister Inayatullah Khan will supervise the  process. Under the new formula, four nazims will be directly elected for PFC by the present 23 district and 68 tehsil nazims as opposed to the previous system where two nazims were elected by the provincial government. All the district and tehsil nazims have been summoned to Peshawar for this purpose except those from Kohistan and Bannu where cases are pending. The detailed procedure and instructions will be revealed by the RO before the start  of the polling process on Friday morning.
