Unemployment as a precursor to crime

Letter October 06, 2015
One of the main reasons behind all stress-related diseases are societal ills like unemployment

ABBOTTABAD: Depression and frustration are conditions much prevalent in modern times. One of the main reasons behind all stress-related diseases are societal ills like unemployment, an unfair education system and a corrupt political system. Youngsters are the building blocks for any nation and unemployment impacts them in very negative ways.

As graduates from universities search for standard, entry-level jobs, all they get for their hard work is disappointment and frustration as even entry-level jobs are difficult to come by in Pakistan. This often leads them to engage in criminal activities, all out of desperation for money and a desire to make a living. I request the lawmakers concerned to make provisions for job growth so that our youth have reasons to want to stay in this country, obtain education and earn a living in a lawful manner.
