US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday extended eid greetings to Muslims around the world.  “We congratulate the nearly three million Muslims – including thousands of Americans – who are performing Hajj this year in fulfillment of one of the fundamental pillars of their faith,” he said in a statement. He noted that Eidul Azha provides an opportunity for renewed spirituality, prayer, and reflection, and for families and friends to gather in celebration and thanks for the many blessings of God. But added that it is also a time for charity and for helping those who are less fortunate including the many adults and children forced to flee violence in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.
