Food laws: Admin fines 64 food outlets

The inspector inspected 13 drug outlets and took three samples for analysis

The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration fined 64 food outlets for violation of food safety laws and submitted them in courts during the ongoing drive against adulterated food items, said a press release issued on Friday.


The teams also issued notices to 45 hotels, restaurants, bakeries for failing to comply with food safety and hygiene laws. According to details, the district administration teams conducted 190 inspections of food outlets during the last week and confiscated 40 kilogrammes of unhygienic meat and 335 packets of gutka.


The teams of food and health departments, during inspections, confiscated 40 filthy and broken utensils and disposed them on the spot. The food inspector took 36 samples of various food items and sent them for laboratory analysis.


The inspector inspected 13 drug outlets and took three samples for analysis. The administration also directed owners of food outlets to ensure vaccination of workers.
