PESHAWAR:

Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said tribespeople deserve maximum compensation as they have rendered tremendous sacrifices to ensure peace and stability in the country.

According to a statement issued from QWP Secretariat, Watan Kor, on Thursday, Sherpao flayed the government’s plan to give Rs300,000 to every family of the deceased and Rs100,000 to each injured in the blast in Jamrud, Khyber Agency.

He urged the government to end its “discriminatory policy” towards the people of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

“The government should announce a similar amount for victims of terror attacks in other parts of the country,” he said.

Sherpao said the tribal belt has suffered the most since 9/11 as most of the infrastructure in the region was destroyed. He maintained the government’s apathy would increase the sense of deprivation among tribespeople. “Development projects should be introduced to ensure the tribespeople have access to all kinds of facilities,” he added.
